Public Affairs Department

Provides activities to
strengthen citizenship, reduce crime, and promote home and highway
safety. For example:
In 1964, the department organized and coordinated the "Great Decisions - World Study Series in Wake County.' This series continues to be sponsored every year.
Club member and women's advocate, Dr. Ellen Winston, was appointed by President Carter in 1979 to be Deputy Director of the White House Conference on Aging.
In 2001-2002, the Public Affairs Department supported the fund-raising for the Spanish translation of The Germ Patrol
The department carries out the following programs:
Chrysalis Club, Women's Correctional Center
Celebrate and observe GFWC Federation Day
Celebrate women in American History
Promote Historic Preservation
Monitor and support Government boards and commissions
Leadership and Development and Youth
Honor Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service
Involvement in legislation that affects woman and children
Promote voter participation
