Artists of the Month:  Lori White.Her art work is called Contemporary Realism.  Lori states that she started oil painting as a child and took lessons for several years with Isabel Hopper.  Later she pursued degrees in science at George Mason University and UNC-Chapel Hill and then balanced her passion for art with her passion for environmental work.  She then expanded her media to include both soft and oil pastels, as she savored “the vibrant colors and immediacy of those media.”  She further states that ”Impressionism is the art work that most deeply resonates with me”…but “it is a point of departure for her art work… which is basically representational.”  In addition to Impressionists, her influences are the Ashcan School, Schnid, Sorolla, Sargent, and Hopper.
