The Woman's Club of Raleigh will partner with the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh to sponsor the 2009 Arts Festival at the Woman's Club of Raleigh
There are categories for Club members in visual arts, crafts, sewing, photography, literature, drama and public speaking. In addition to these categories, there are contests in music, voice and piano for students. The painting contest is open to students in grades 6 - 8.All categories are open to students in grades 9 - 12. Cash prizes are awarded to student winnersThe local Arts Festival is a part of the GFWC - NC Arts Festival with winners at the club level advancing to District VI Festival and District winners advancing to the State competition. The Arts Festival competition is open to Home Schooled students. Contests require registration. Rules of Contest:
Authors must be amateur status. (Earnings from writing must not exceed $500 annually.)
Student is limited to one entry per category.
Manuscripts entered may not have been published prior to the competition and must be the original work of the author.
Entries must be typed on word processors or typewriters, double spaced, with minimum margins of 1", one side only, on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
Entries must be written during the contest year.
State winners in categories grade levels 7-12 will be eligible for the national contest.
Labeling with the information with * below is required on top right-hand corner of each page.

THREE COPIES of each manuscript must be submitted by January 10, 2008, 2008 along with a 3 x 5 index card including the following information and mailed to:

AWARDS:
Arts Festival awards in Literature will be given at Local, District and State levels.
Local:
First Place cash awards and entry in District competition at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on TBA, 2008.
Second and third place winners receive ribbons and certificates.
District:
All winners receive ribbons and certificates. First Place will be entered in the State competition at Salem College, Winston-Salem, TBA, 2008.
State: First Place $150.00, Second Place $75.00, and Third Place $25.00.

In 1979, we established a student merit award in Music.
In 1993 our club received the Raleigh City Medal of Arts Award for extraordinary achievement in the arts.
In 2001 we sponsored a wolf in the Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble, contributing all proceeds to the NC Aquariums.
The Woman's Club of Raleigh is an Organization Member of the North Carolina Museum of Art.
